Taaleri Real Estate is a Nordic investment and fund manager focusing on commercial and residential assets.

We empower what matters by making an impact. The real estate sector has one of the largest carbon footprints, accounting for approximately 35% of all CO2 emissions globally. By taking measures to reduce emissions in our investments, we can make a real difference.

Taaleri is a frontrunner in housing funds
Taaleri Real Estate has a proven track record in managing diverse real estate funds with impressive returns for investors. Taaleri Real Estate has extensive experience in structuring and establishing real estate funds. For 15 years, we have managed both closed-end and open-end real estate funds, ranging from core to opportunistic strategies. Currently, we are managing six real estate funds and three separately managed accounts.
In 2009, Taaleri was one of the first fund managers to introduce a housing fund in Finland. Our housing funds under core/core+ strategies have consistently outperformed the market, delivering an equity multiple of 1.4–2.0 and an average net IRR of close to 13%.

Mikko Krootila
Managing Director, Taaleri Real Estate
Mikko Krootila is Managing Director of Taaleri Real Estate and a member of Taaleri Group’s Executive Management Team. He joined Taaleri in 2024 from Helix Real Estate, a real estate investment and fund management company, where he served as Managing Partner. Prior to Helix, Mikko worked at Logicor, a Blackstone portfolio company, where he served as a Portfolio Director focusing on the Nordic region.
Mikko has approx. 15 years of experience in real estate private equity, investments, portfolio and fund management on the Nordic real estate market. He has a proven track record of numerous successfully completed transactions, has been involved as a key player in several of the largest M&A transactions of real estate investment companies in Finland, and has ramped up asset management and investment operations both domestically and internationally.
Mikko holds a Master’s degree in Technology from Aalto University School of Science and Technology.
Maria Aller
Asset Manager
Maria Aller joined Taaleri in 2024 and currently works as an Asset Manager. Maria is responsible for leading the real estate portfolio’s day-to-day operations. She focuses on value creation for both commercial and residential assets during the different life cycles of funds. As an Asset Manager, she actively participates in maintaining tenant relationships and lease negotiations and also leads external property managers.
Before joining Taaleri, Maria worked in the real estate sector at YIT and Innovestor. She worked as an Asset Manager in Innovestor’s real estate team where she was responsible for the commercial management of selected properties.
Maria holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Aalto University, majoring in Accounting.
Tuomas Ahonen
Head of Investments
Tuomas joined Taaleri in 2024. Tuomas works as Head of Investments at Taaleri Real Estate and leads the business unit’s investment activities. His responsibilities also include the structuring and execution of new investment products.
Tuomas has been working in the real estate investment sector since 2010, specialising in transactions in the Nordic countries. He has strong experience in transactions and deal sourcing. He previously worked for Genesta Property Nordic and Catella in Finland and Sweden. For the last eight years at Genesta, he was responsible for transactions in Finland.
Tuomas holds a Master’s degree in Real Estate Investment and Finance from Hanken School of Economics.
Jan Hellman
Investment Director, Fund Manager
Jan Hellman joined Taaleri in 2016. Jan works as an Investment Director at Taaleri Real Estate and as a designated Fund Manager for several of Taaleri's closed-end funds.
Jan has approx. 15 years of experience in real estate markets, real estate funds and private equity industry. His in-depth knowledge covers the whole lifecycle of a real estate fund: from creating fund strategy, fund structuring and fund raising to fund and investment management until the exit process. Jan has successfully executed transactions worth almost EUR 1 billion, including several significant portfolio deals. He has experience in both closed and open-end funds and has a proven track record of successfully executed exits from different asset classes.
Before joining Taaleri, Jan held an Investment Manager position at real estate private equity company ICECAPITAL. Jan holds a Master’s degree in Economics (Management & Accounting) from Aalto University School of Business.
Salla Kalliola
Head of Asset Management, Portfolio Manager
Salla Kalliola joined Taaleri in 2021. She works as Head of Asset Management at Taaleri Real Estate, and as a Portfolio Manager for two non-UCITS funds investing in commercial and residential properties.
Salla has worked in real estate industry since 2007. She has been responsible for managing the returns of property assets for both domestic and international real estate investment companies, increasing profitability, and participating in property acquisition and sales processes. Salla has experience in the technical, financial, and administrative management of properties, as well as in property development and leasing. Before joining Taaleri, Salla worked as a Portfolio Manager at Aktia Bank and as an Asset Manager at real estate investment company Antilooppi and pension insurance company Ilmarinen.
Salla holds a Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management from Turku University of Applied sciences.
Ida Katajarinne
Financial Controller
Ida joined Taaleri in spring 2024. She works as a Financial Controller at Taaleri Real Estate, covering a parental leave position.
Ida has been working in the real estate industry since 2022. As a Financial Controller, Ida is involved in fund management, responsible for tasks such as financial management of funds, liquidity monitoring and assisting with valuation and finance-related duties. Before joining Taaleri, Ida worked at Nrep and Deloitte, among others. At Nrep, she served as a Junior Analyst and at Deloitte as an Auditor.
Ida holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration with a focus on accounting from Hanken School of Economics.
Arttu Kolu
Financial Manager
Arttu Kolu joined Taaleri in 2020 as a Financial Manager. Arttu is in charge of financial management of Taaleri Real Estate business and Taaleri Real Estate funds. He also leads all financial asset management operations including outsourced financial property managers.
Arttu has approx. 10 years of experience in various real estate-related financial management positions. He has worked for both Finnish and international investors and has expertise in cross-border acquisitions and tax structuring. Prior to joining Taaleri, Arttu held a Controller position in SBB Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden AB and, prior to SBB, a Financial System Specialist and an Accountant positions in Newsec Property Asset Management Oy.
Arttu holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Vaasa.
Timo Metsälä
Director, Real Estate Development
Timo joined Taaleri in 2022 and is a Director at Taaleri Real Estate where he oversees real estate development and construction management, as well as leading sustainability initiatives.
Timo has been working in the real estate sector since 2004. He has managed zoning and real estate development projects for both domestic and international property owners, taking on roles in architectural design, lead design and project management. Timo has been responsible for complex zoning development projects and large-scale refurbishment and commercial development projects. Before joining Taaleri, he worked as a Project Director at WSP and as a Real Estate Development Director at Antilooppi.
Timo holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from Helsinki University of Technology, Finland (Aalto University). He has served as a Board Member of the Finnish Green Building Council since 2024.
Jyrki Moilanen
Director, Treasury and Finance
Jyrki Moilanen joined Taaleri in 2018. Jyrki leads all property financing operations of Taaleri Real Estate. He has extensive experience of property financing and group treasury operations dating back more than 20 years. His in-depth expertise especially covers financing, hedging, optimisation of collaterals, cash and risk management and the short- and long-term strategic planning of funding.
Prior to joining Taaleri, Jyrki held executive-level positions at Sponda Plc with responsibility for the funding of the Sponda Group and a portfolio of total interest-bearing debt of EUR 2 billion. Jyrki holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from Aalto University.
Jorma Niemelä
Investment Director, Portfolio Manager
Jorma joined Taaleri in 2021. He works as a Portfolio Manager for two non-UCITS funds investing in commercial and residential properties, and is responsible for managing a Separate Managed Account investing on behalf of an institutional client.
Jorma has been working in the real estate sector since 2012. In addition to comprehensive portfolio management experience, he has a solid track record in carrying out transaction processes, financial management and financing operations. Before joining Taaleri, Jorma worked in various positions in the real estate sector in several companies such as Aktia, Antilooppi and Lemminkäinen.
Jorma holds a Master’s degree in industrial management and engineering.
Olli Saurama
Technical Asset Manager
Olli Saurama joined Taaleri Real Estate in 2020 as a Technical Asset Manager. Olli leads all technical asset management operations including all outsourced technical property managers. He has extensive experience in property management operations and property maintenance dating back more than 10 years. His comprehensive knowledge especially covers energy efficiency, opex, capex, sustainability optimisation and long-term planning.
Before joining Taaleri, Olli held several different positions at Newsec Property Asset Management where he had clients that were institutional investors, private and public companies and real estate funds.
Owen Zhang
Analyst
Owen Zhang joined Taaleri in 2024 and currently serves as an Analyst, where he is primarily responsible for the analysis and underwriting of new acquisitions, the execution of transactions and supporting fundraising initiatives.
Before joining Taaleri, Owen worked in commercial real estate advisory roles at JLL Capital Markets and Newsec Advisory, and he was involved in various high-profile projects across the industrial and logistics, residential and hospitality sectors serving international and domestic clients.
Owen has a Bachelor’s degree in Build Environment from Aalto University School of Science.
